Overview
I led the architectural design and deployment of the "US Army Air Defender" platform for the U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery (ADA) Branch. Developed in direct coordination with the Office Chief Air Defense Artillery (OCADA) and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), this multi-platform application transformed the recruitment pipeline into an immersive, goal-oriented digital experience.
Gamified Career Progression Logic
I architected the application as a comprehensive simulation of an ADA officer's career trajectory. The core engagement engine uses a "rank-up" mechanic to educate potential candidates on the long-term opportunities within the branch.
- Rank Evolution: Players enter the simulation as a Second Lieutenant (2LT) and must navigate daily training modules and prescribed tactical missions to achieve promotion.
- Achievement Milestones: I designed the progression logic to reward mission completion with advancements through the officer corps, culminating at the rank of Brigadier General.
- Educational Integration: Throughout the journey, players are exposed to critical branch intelligence, including weapon systems specifications, organizational structures, and historical ADA milestones.
Social Growth & Unit Command Mechanics
To increase "virality" and peer-to-peer engagement, I implemented a unique unit-building social layer.
- The "Squad-to-AAMDC" Pipeline: I developed a unique referral code system that allowed players to recruit others into their digital organization. This mechanic enabled users to scale their command from a small squad up to a full Army Air and Missile Defense Command (AAMDC).
- Currency & Mini-Games: Players earn points through active participation, which I integrated into a dedicated ADA mini-game ecosystem where they can procure tactical assets and earn performance awards.
Full-Stack Infrastructure & Lifecycle Management
I managed the end-to-end technical environment for the platform, ensuring high availability across web, iOS, and Android ecosystems.
- Backend Architecture: My team and I maintained the centralized web server and database infrastructure required to manage global player data and unit organizations.
- Continuous Optimization: I oversaw the period of performance, managing the bug-fix lifecycle and ensuring the application remained performant through various mobile OS updates.
- Data-Driven Evaluation: I provided OCADA with critical demographic and usage analytics. This data allowed the client to objectively assess the game's success as a recruitment tool and refine their outreach strategies based on user behavior.
Multi-Platform Deployment
I navigated the complex publishing requirements to ensure the app was accessible as a free, high-quality download on the Google Play and Apple App Store, while simultaneously maintaining a web-accessible version for desktop users.
Key Insight: US Army Air Defender moved beyond a simple "app" to become a transparent, documented career map. By allowing potential officers to "play" their future career—from 2LT to General—I successfully bridged the gap between civilian interest and professional military commitment.
